A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story

After watching Desperate Housewives (oooo! i like) last night, i clicked on HBO and found myself watching a movie called

A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story

It's pretty disturbing but sad at the same time. It's about a real 17 year old boy named Gwen Araujo, born Edward Araujo, Jr who was killed by his friends after they found out that she was a boy. She lived her entire life as a girl and preferred to be called Gwen instead of Eddie. She even dated a man named Tony for 9 months who didn't know that she is actually a trans gender. This movie revolves around the trials of those who murdered him and it shows her life and also her family..

Apparently she was tortured for 5 hours before she died...just because she wasn't a she. During her funeral they were alot of critics outside the church because being a trans gender is a sin(yes it is) and to dress him up in a gown during his funeral isn't right.

There are alot to think about while watching this movie. Probably because it is a real life documentary of a person who died, and this issue does happen in the real world. From my point of view, do not go into the raging river if you do not want to drown. But then again who am I to judge. You know, she was, really a pretty girl in real life.

All in all it's a good movie to watch if you like feeling all emotional. I didn't plan to watch it but i was hooked after 5 minutes of watching so it probably means it must be a good watch isn't it? =)
